Tipping Point
Tipping Point is a park bench that you cannot sit on alone. It explores the idea of symbiosis physically: nearness is required to foster balance. Choosing to sit on the bench is choosing to be vulnerable, to be supportive. To sit is to reflect on how you relate to the other—other humans, non-humans, and our shared environment. We must consider how we engage with what is beyond ourselves, the necessary ecology of living—as to live is always to live with.

Tipping Point is an interactive steel sculpture constructed from manually shaped, cut, and welded sheet metal. Its form incorporates the mechanics of a seesaw into a park bench, inviting viewers to engage physically while reflecting on balance, instability, and shared weight.
It is also kinda a toy.
I like making toys.
