Crossing on crosswalks with closed eyes…

Crossing on crosswalks with closed eyes

Bright black and white stripes

Filling space and spanning lifetimes.

Who are you? Whose feet are so light and yet pulling you down.

Where were you trying to float to?

Up in the Big Beyond, stars explode like moments

Punctuated by a black and additive everything

Up and up they go.

Perhaps your light is dying, or your limbs are crumbling.

Perhaps your vision is failing, or your visions are falling.

So open your eyes.

Shot out of the sky with melted wings

Ideas and desires liquify

Under. Constant. Pressure.

Who taught their eyes how to fly? How to sing?

Breaking and cracking and splitting the ground

Down, down, down,

Till it isn’t ground anymore.

Get up. Stand up.

Run, scream, and beat and beat and

Beat blood that tastes like starlight.

Spinning tops of clocks are slowing stopping,

Or changing their minds now.

We’re learning to walk in circles,

But maybe in circles unbound.

Who are you who steps into the wind?

Are you me? Or would you like to be?

Seconds and minutes collapse into blackholes

Bouncing off walls and splattering on the ground.

Open your eyes now.

Before it can hit you, it hits you.

Shuffling your insides and rebranding your name.

You're not dead yet.

You’ll never fully forget until your gone,

So don’t die yet.

Have you forgotten already?
